AO.com was originally established in 2000 as Appliances Online by John Roberts. On top of being an online retailer, the company also sold white goods on behalf of a number of retailers like Next, B&Q and House of Fraser. Appliances Online was rebranded as AO.com in 2013. In 2014 AO.com joined the London Stock Exchange as AO World to allow the company the funds needed to expand into Europe. AO opened a new headquarters in Germany to supplement their expansion. In 2019, AO Mobile was launched offering all UK mobile networks and manufacturers

Shopping stats and when are AO sales on?

The AO.com Black Friday sale is one of the best in the UK and is the perfect opportunity to pick up large items. Keep an eye out for strong deals on televisions in particular. In 2020 Black Friday was on Nov 27, while in 2021 it was November 26th. In 2022 Black Friday is Friday November 25th. Be sure to check back to AO around this time to find the best deals. AO is also known for having a great clearance and deals section, with discounts on older models and you can often find a number of voucher codes to choose from.

AO delivery options

AO delivery costs vary quite a bit with flexible options. You will see the price when you checkout. They offer next day delivery 7 days a week, but choosing an exact day and time slot will up the delivery price. While AO delivery is available, on certain items you can also opt for DPD delivery 7 days a week. For £32, AO can deliver to Northern Ireland, but you won't be able to pick a delivery date online. If ordering a large item you may be asked how many steps your home has to help the delivery drivers prepare on the day. Click & Collect services are also available with CollectPlus in over 7000 locations across the UK.

AO returns and cancellations

If you login to your AO account you can manage your order and even cancel it if submitted within a reasonable time. AO offers a fantastic 100 day free returns. If your item is unused AO will give you a full refund including any delivery costs. Even if your item is used, you can potentially get up to 50% of the cost refunded. To submit a return, login to your account and you will find a return option. For smaller items you can arrange to drop the product off at one of their many Drop at Shop locations. These include a number of Asda stores as well as CollectPlus and DPD locations.
