The experts at Offeroftheday give Dunelm an overall rating of 4/5
If you're looking to decorate or finish your home, Dunelm has a fantastic product range for all your needs. Their range of teddy bear throws are particularly popular and we love their made to measure options for blinds and curtains. It's one of only a few high street chains to still offer this kind of customisation. The selection of rugs is huge and the addition of furniture and wallpaper has really rounded off the product choice. For some furnishings like mirrors, clocks and decorations there are still cheaper retailers available, although Dunelms pricing has been very reasonable.
Dunelm offers multiple types of home delivery depending on how fast you need your products. Standard delivery is free over £49 and tends to be reasonably fast. Delivery times do increase for those living in more remote areas of the UK. Express delivery is also available and furniture and large item delivery options are included. From what we can see, nominated day delivery is only available for large items and furniture, not on smaller items using express delivery. Click & Collect is also a great option with same day pick up available when ordering before 5pm.
Dunelm offers a 28 day return period, starting from the day of your delivery or the day you collect your item from the store. The cardholder must be present and items must be in an unused and original condition. Online purchases can be returned to your local store, via Evri parcel shop drop off or Home collection. Made to measure items can't be refunded. Refunds and exchanges are hassle free and very easy to manage in store or online.
Dunelm is very easy to get in contact with. There is an online form on their website as well as a mailing address. The easiest and fastest option is to use their online Live Chat function. We've found this function extremely helpful with friendly personnel happy to help with any issues you might be having. Don't forget you can also deal with issues in store where the customer service is of a good quality.
Dunelm is very committed to minimising the impact of the business on the environment. Their focuses are currently on reducing energy consumption and Carbon, reducing operational waste through recycling. There seems to be a solid plan for reducing impact going into the future and we love their efforts to reduce food waste from their Pausa cafes by donating portions of soup to colleagues, food banks and charities in the local community
Dunlem started life as a Market stall where the founder Bill Adderly and his wife Jean started selling M&S seconds and slippers. By 1984 they had their first bricks and mortar store in Leicester. In 2001 they purchased a curtain manufacturing business and began their bespoke service that is still going strong today.
It wasn’t until 2005 that their fully shoppable website went live. By 2017 they had over 3 million customers visiting their stores and website per week.
In 2019 they celebrated their 40th anniversary of trading. As of Summer 2020 they operate 173 stores throughout the UK.
Dunelm stock a wide range of garden furniture sets, but we think their strength is in the selection of outdoor lighting, outdoor rugs and cushions.
Shop furniture for the bedroom, living room and kitchen. There is also a great furniture finder feature on site to help you find the right size for you.
Both ends are covered with a selection of affordable bedding sets, plus luxury Dorma sets to really treat yourself.
Both ready made and made to measure blinds and curtains are available.
You'll find stair runners, kids mats, doormats and large rugs in a multitude of designs.
Complete your home with accessories such as clocks, artwork and a great selection of realistic plastic plants and pots.
Dunelm has a particularly great selection of floor and table lamps, as well as ceiling spotlights and chandeliers.
Lots of pain colours available as well as some particularly funky patterned wallpaper.
Find utensils, knives and pan sets from big brands like Scoville.
Dunelms summer sale is the largest, it usually starts at the end of May
Dunelm is an abbreviation of the Latin word Dunelmensis meaning "from Durham"
Although this seems quite a recent change it actually happened way back in 2013.
No, they did offer 5% off but this offer finished in June 2021
They are currently offering 10% off order over £40 via Student beans. This is due to end on 3rd October. Check out their Student discount page for the latest information.
Traditionally Dunelm hasn't taken part in Black Friday, its biggest sale being in the summer instead. However, this changed in 2021 where it unveiled discounts of 50% on popular furniture, kitchen and decor. This year black Friday is on 25th November with Cyber Monday being on 28th November. As in other years we’d expect the Black Friday sales event to be spread out over several weeks. With the current rate of inflation it may be better to purchase now rather than waiting however as prices are continuing to rise. We wrote an article about Black Friday vs Inflation which might be worth a read
In 2006 Duelm was floated on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. It would have made a great investment, you’d bought £1000 of shares when they floated they would have been worth over £7000 at their peak in 2021.
Dunelms share price peaked in May 2021 at £1474 but has since declined to £714 due to the current economic uncertainty
Dunelm has just named outgoing Whitbread Boss Alison Brittain as its new chair. She will join in September 22 as an independent non-exclusive director and chair designate.
The company's 2022 pretax profit is expected to come in slightly ahead of expectations at 207 million pounds.
